Absence is one of many factors eating away at our productivity at work. Honeydew’s mission is ultimately to help organisations improve productivity – through better attendance, healthier workforce and more engaged employees. That’s why the Stoddard Review’s paper on physical workplaces as a factor in the productivity equation was such an interesting read.

Our favourite Christmas present this year was The Ladybird Book of the Sickie. Here are some stories about sickies to inspire you in 2017:   Laurence and Ben are enjoying a bout of imaginary food poisoning. Food poisoning is always good because it is over quickly and nobody likes to hear stories about toilets.

CIPD Absence Survey 2016

On 2nd November 2016, CIPD published its 17th annual absence management survey results. For me, the interesting finding were not the headline figures of the report but that the sample size had nearly doubled, reaching 1091 respondents. For years, the group size has fluctuated both sides of the 600 mark.

Brexit – we’re in it for the long haul

Last week I attended London HR Connection meeting, where the topic was Brexit. The panellists were an employment lawyer, a high-end recruiter / head-hunter and a People Management magazine editor. All three gave their impressions of Brexit so far and predictions for the future.
